Chats With A Limited Man

It’s a holiday in that Warwickshire, where people dress in black

We went on holiday to Stratford-Upon-Avon for three days/two nights, and it was absolutely lovely. It does feel a touch strange writing about Wot I Dun On Me Holidaze here (despite the fact that the primary subject of this thing is Wot I Dun When I Wasn’t On Me Holidaze), but in brief nevertheless:

~ We stayed in Thistle’s Stratford establishment, which was lovely and surprisingly inexpensive for a town centre hotel of such nice quality. Great big room with everything you could want, enormous bed, and unanimously helpful staff. I bet the prices will go up once the new theatre (right over the road) is built, though. It’s also perhaps worth noting that not every Thistle hotel is reputed to be as good.

~ I love Stratford Butterfly Farm so very much.

~ We visited some very nice pubs, chiefmost amongst them The Old Thatch Tavern (BITE page) – a lovely cosy proper pub with a proper fire and Hobgoblin on the oak. We didn’t get chance to try the food in there, but it smelled good.

~ If you want what will probably be the most favourable fun-to-money-spent ratio you’ll ever encounter, buy a loaf of bread and go and feed the birds near the river when you’re in Stratford (there are swans, geese, seagulls, ducks, pigeons, coots, moorhens, possibly more I’m forgetting…). You will get bitten by a goose at least once, though, that’s a given. They don’t mean it. They just want more bread.

~ The most important thing is that I was with the woman I love.
