End-Of-Year-Count 2015: Stage

Posted in Stage by Russ L on 30 December, 2015

At the end of every year I curse myself for not having gone to see more plays, so this time I set myself a target of “an average of more than one per month”. That isn’t an enormous amount, I realise, but I did manage it.

25/3/15 – “Alice” by Laura Wade with only really the vaguest nod to Lewis Carroll (Crescent Youth Theatre) @ The Crescent Theatre (studio), Birmingham

26/3/15 – “Arcadia” by Tom Stoppard (English Touring Theatre & Theatre Royal Brighton Productions) @ The New Alexandra Theatre, Birmingham

30/3/15 – “United We Stand” by Neil Gore (Townsend Productions) @ The Town Hall, West Bromwich

25/4/15 – “Feed The Beast” by Steve Thompson (Birmingham Rep Theatre & New Wolsey Theatre) @ The Studio, Library Of Birmingham/The Rep Theatre, Birmingham

22/5/15 – “A Translation Of Shadows” by Craig Stephens & James Yarker (Stan’s Café) @ The Arena Theatre, Wolverhampton

1/6/15 – “The Curious Incident Of The Dog In The Night-Time” adapted from Mark Haddon by Simon Stephens (National Theatre) @ The Hippodrome, Birmingham

17/7/15 – “The Country Doctor” distantly adapted from Mikhail Bulgakov by… I don’t know who by (Noctium Theatre) @ A.E. Harris, Jewellery Quarter, Birmingham

18/7/15 – “Diary Of A Nobody” adapted from George & Weedon Grossmith by Jonathan A.P. Emrys (Fred Theatre) @ The Old Joint Stock Theatre, Birmingham

24/7/15 – “Flick & Julie’s Pop-Up Penny Pinchers” by Gemma Layton & Beth Granville @ The Old Joint Stock Theatre, Birmingham

16/9/15 – “King Charles III” by Mike Bartlett (Birmingham Rep Theatre & Almeida Theatre) @ The House, The Rep Theatre, Birmingham

23/9/15 – “Sancho – An Act Of Remembrance” by Patterson Joseph (Pemberley Productions & Oxford Playhouse) @ The Studio, Library Of Birmingham/The Rep Theatre, Birmingham

3/10/15 – “Metamorphosis” adapted from Franz Kafka by Steven Berkoff (Crescent Theatre Company) @ The Crescent Theatre (studio), Birmingham

23/10/15 – “Anita And Me” adapted from Meera Syal by Tanika Gupta (Birmingham Rep Theatre & Theatre Royal Stratford East) @ The House, The Rep Theatre, Birmingham

13/12/15 – “Vampomime” by Nick Walker (Belgrade Theatre) @ The Belgrade Theatre (B2 room), Coventry

***

For other stage-type performances – opera has its own list. I went to see one comedian, and that was Dylan Moran at Stratford Artshouse on 14/2/15.
