Linklogification – 18/10/11 – Special Supersonic Special

Posted in Food, Linklog, Music, Well, it passes the time by Russ L on 18 October, 2011

Get your jumpers out kiddies, ‘cos it’s Capsule’s Supersonic festival this weekend and its going to be a cold one. Links here will be germane. Germane, I tells ya.

~ I was waiting for the timetable to be announced. This is usually attended by a fanfare of people saying “Hooray!”, but obviously I managed to miss all of that: it appears that it’s already out.

~ There are preview-type articles absolutely all over the place. I’ll just give you, say, Pete’s.

~ If you’re kicking around in Brum over the weekend for this, don’t forget that there’s also a chilli festival going on at Brindley Place. You too can be the pope of chilitown.

~ A popular between-bands pastime at Supersonic is, obviously, having very detailed and precise arguments about precisely which obscure subgenre you can use describe the music of a particular act. Be forearmed – Ishkur’s Guide To Electronic Music and The Map Of Metal are absolutely beautiful guides to all that sort of thing (both from the old linklog).

~ The diagram of heavy metal band names (from the old linklog, originally via Tom Ewing).

~ I doubt I’ll get very far in suggesting this for “Official Festival Theme Song”, even if it does have a Flying V in the video.

I noticed on the timetable that everything is indoors this year, so it won’t be quite so cold.

I dunno about that. The wind blows directly and fulsomely into the big entrance gaps in the walls of Space 2, unless they’ve rebuilt it since last year.
